What happens after death? This question seems to bring much
confusion and doubt to many out there. Upon asking this question
people will give you their various opinions as to what happens after a
person dies.
There are many beliefs in this world of ours as to what happens after
death. Some believe that a person stops existing. Others believe that
one goes to sleep for ever or at least until a final resurrection or
judgment. Others believe in reincarnation, and that is that a person
comes back as some type of animal. According to that belief, if a
person was bad, then such a person will come back to this world as
some type of animal. And if a person was good, then that person
might come back as another person. So what happens after we die?
Do we go through some tunnel towards a light? Do we go to a
holding cell called purgatory? Do we go to hell or to heaven? So what
happens after we die?
Another question that we should ask is, should we even care what
happens to us after we die? Well, I do believe that we should all care
what happens after we die because of the fact that we will all one day
die. It does not matter if we are young or old, death will knock on our
door one day. We will not be able to avoid it. Because of that, I do
believe that there should be a great concern as to what happens
when we die. If we stop to exist after we die as many believe, then we
really have nothing to worry about, do we? But what if something does
happen? What if there is a heaven and a hell? What if God is real and
everything that the Bible says is true? Most importantly, what if we
were on the wrong side, the loosing side, the condemn side, the side
that is going to hell, and we come to realize that, after we die? I think that we should not wait
until then to find out that we were wrong! I believe that we must get right with God before we
die so that we will not spend an eternity apart from Him in hell.
The future seems to be one of the most important things in a persons life. It is for that reason
that people commit their lives to pursue a great education and a great career. People make it
a priority in life to have financial stability. Many will give up their family so that they might have
a great position in life. But unfortunately not too many people will prepare to die. Many spend
too much time living their own life that they forget about one of the most important things in
life, eternity. Oh yes they will go to church on and off, but quite too often place God in the back
burner. And so when death knocks on their door not too many are ready.
Other people perhaps do not really care as to what happens when they die. It could be that
for that reason alone they live ungodly in every way. Such people will sing songs that say that
they will “party hardy” with the devil,” and such. But in reality that type of thinking is not only
foolish, but deceiving because when they die they will care. They will care because
unfortunately
for them they will literally be judged and condemned and will spend an eternity in hell. They
“think” that they don’t care only because that seems to be kind of “kool” these days. “It goes
with the flow, you know?” It is also for that reason that they promote death in every way. Death
seems to be “in.” Clothing that display skulls, demons, death in religious clothing, etc., is
worn only by those that are cool, so people believe. But in reality, such people need the Lord
before they die because it will be “hell” without Jesus.
In this series we will answer all the above questions and more. We will see what the Bible
says about death. We will also see who will be the blessed ones that go to heaven and why,
and who will be the unfortunate ones. During this series we will also deal with many of the
false teachings that are out there, including the false teaching of purgatory.
