the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end
of the war desolations are determined. Andhe shall confirm the covenant with many
for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation
to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even
until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.”
To begin with, Daniel wrote about the first coming of the Messiah in detail. In verse 24
he spoke about seventy weeks that were determined upon the people and Jerusalem.
When you pen that in a time format, one week happens to be seven years. And so 7
years times 70 weeks equals to 490 years.
Verse 25 of Daniel 9 predicts the very day that Jesus would present Himself as the
Messiah to the Jewish people. The Angel who is giving Daniel these words gives Daniel
the exact time to start counting off the days and years so that they could know the
exact day when the Messiah was going to present Himself in Jerusalem.
The command to restore and rebuild Jerusalem was given by Artaxerxes the King on
March 14th, 445 B.C. (Nehemiah 1-2). And he also says in verse 25 that it “…shall be
seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks:…” In short what Daniel is saying is that,
from the time the order will be given to the coming of the Messiah the Prince (Jesus
Christ), will be a total of sixty-nine weeks. Placing that in years it will be a total of 483
years (69 weeks times 7 years, 1 week is seven years). Placing the above in days, it
would be a total of 173,880 days (483 years x 360 days per year = 173,880 days.
Calendar days were 360 per year during that time).
As we continue with the calculations, subtracting 483 years or 173,880 days from
March 14th 445 B.C., one comes out with April 6th 32 A.D. And this is the exact day
that Jesus the Messiah made His entry into Jerusalem as recorded in Luke 19:28-44.
Notice that Daniel spoke about 70 weeks. But only 69 weeks have been accounted for.
That means that there is one week left. That is, seven years left. And these are the
seven years that are also known as the last seven years of world history and the
tribulation period. And this is what we will be focused on in our upcoming articles.

Almost everyone seems to be infatuated with end time events.
Hollywood offers a variety of different tales that are based on
some producer’s vivid imagination. And unfortunately many
people are so eager to believe what Hollywood has to offer because
it feeds on their emotional rollercoaster. And the end result of
that is that people begin to form their opinion and base their
thinking of what they have seen in the movies. And when it
comes to them hearing what the Bible has to say about end time
events, these people will begin to argue against what the Bible
says because of the movie that they have seen. This occurs not
only with end time events but also with every other topic that
you or I might bring up.
The Bible speaks to us about end time events in detail. And it is up
to you and I to read it and study it so that our thinking might be
based on God’s truth and not on someone else’s opinion.
One of the most detailed prophecies about end time events is
found in the book of Daniel. Daniel the prophet wrote in Daniel 9:
24-27; “Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon
thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of
sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in
everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and
prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy. Know therefore and
understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to
restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall
be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be
built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. And after
threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for
himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy
